The APAL-2154 ‘Stalker’!

The ‘Stalker’ is a Russian coachbuilt light offroader built on a Lada Niva chassis
and using Niva mechanicals. The body uses plastic panels and features one of the most useless, but coolest rear ‘trunk hatch’ designs in an off-roader I’ve ever seen...because it looks so ridiculously hard to get anything in and out of with such a high lip and that roll-bar in the way!
I see some Land Rover Defender in the roofline, and some Hummer in the front clip...some Suzuki Jimny in there too...

I believe you’ve been properly Kinja’d.

You ever ridden in a Lada before? You don’t want a Russian car.

But this is based on the Niva . The good (or at least charming and off-roadable) Russian car!

WOOOAAAAAHHHH I want my own Stalker! Wait, no, I take that back....
This is possibly the only SUV I wouldn’t drive unless it was de- badged...

Should be fixed now!

Still awful, I mean they’re interesting but still not a great car. I spent two months in Russia and it certainly was an experience .

Oh, I’d still want one...I like cheap crapboxes :P
There are other cheap crapboxes I would want first though....I will be importing a FIAT 126p and a Piaggio Ape for sure :P

Well, from what our neighbors to the north experienced in the ‘80s and ‘90s, corrosion seemed to be the Niva’s Achilles heel, so switching the body to plastic probably makes this the most perfected version of the Niva you can get, if that’s what you want.

Imagine showing up to a dinner party in a car that says that across the front. And you'd be stuck driving your date in an uncomfortable creepy car too.

And it’s simply looking like a G c lass with a hardtop :

I don’t know why you’d want something like that. It’s unique, but when you start going through the effort to import something, might as well get something actually work importing.

True. But charming they remain, and charming is a good thing. So it’s not a great car, but not all bad. It certainly has its fans.

Even better than that, the B-pillar is obviously cribbed:

Oh, I personally wouldn’t want a Stalker, but I do want a 126p and an Ape...I have a thing for honest, cheap, basic cars that are unique and quirky and both have that in spades :)

You might find you didn’t have a date anymore when it came time to leave.

Looks like a proper 4x4 version of the Naked.

It does, sortof! Though I’d much rather have the Naked! You can even get them with a manual, I believe! :D
